Packaging Specialties Inc. (PSI) was founded January 19, 1959.  

Syme, Inc. was founded by Robert Syme in 1976 as an engineering and sales corporation.  Syme Inc. quickly became a major market source of high quality stainless steel containers supplied primarily by PSI.  

In June 1983, Syme Inc. purchased PSI. 

After acquiring the company Robert Syme quickly led it into one of the fastest growing in the country and received recognition as one of INC. Magazines Top 500.  PSI is recognized as a leader in the field of metal containers for its ability to manufacture innovatively designed packages.  The Company's primary purpose is to manufacture packages of unique, or intricate design.  The PSI management team is of the highest caliber and well suited to accomplish this purpose.

PSI manufactures cylindrical and other containers in a wide range of diameters and capacities from a number of metals, including stainless steel.  PSI provided Syme Inc. with a base of more than 2000 customers including the Department of Energy, Department of Defense and several Fortune 500 companies.

In 1985 a joint venture was begun between PSI and Columbia Container Corporation, providing additional manufacturing capacity.  In 1990, PSI relocated form an owned building in the city of Cleveland, OH, to a new 56,000 sq.ft. light industrial facility on 8.5 acres in Medina OH.

Starting from sales of US$2.6 Million per annum in 1983, PSI now maintains a stable US$10 to $12 Million in annual sales.
